The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) released the September trend data for distributors and manufacturers of power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) products.
In September, U.S. distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products rose 10.9% as compared to sales for January through September 2005. Sales decreased 1.6% over the previous month and were up 9.4% as compared to September 2005.
Days sales in accounts receivables increased 5.7% as compared to August 2006 and gained 0.8% as compared to the same month last year. Annualized sales to inventory ratio in September was 9.5, compared to 8.7 in 2005.
For September, the confidence level of U.S. distributors dropped to 6.3 from 6.8 in August on a 10-point scale.
Canadian distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products grew 8.4% as compared to sales for January through September 2005. Sales increased 1.1% over the previous month and were up 1.9% as compared to September 2005.
Days sales in accounts receivables gained 1.5% from August 2006 and rose 4.7% as compared to the same month last year. Annualized sales to inventory ratio in September was 7.3, compared to 7.8 in 2005.
For September, the confidence level of Canadian distributors remained flat at 6.0 on a 10-point scale.
In September, U.S. manufacturers’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products grew 7.8% as compared to sales for January through September 2005. Sales increased 0.7% over the previous month and climbed 5.9% as compared to September 2005. As compared to August, sales of mounted bearings, unmounted bearings, and shaft couplings increased. Sales of standard industrial motors, variable speed drives, positioning systems/linear motion products, mechanical drives systems and other PT products, clutches and brakes, and gear products decreased.
Year-to-date orders of PT/MC products from U.S. manufacturers were up 5.5% as compared to the same period in 2005. September orders declined 0.5% from August, and dropped 2.2% as compared to September 2005. Annualized sales-to-inventory ratio in September was 10.1, compared to 10.7 in 2005.
For September, the confidence level of U.S. manufacturers increased to 5.6 from 5.4 in August on a 10-point scale.
Canadian manufacturers’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products grew 0.6% as compared to sales for January through September in 2005. Sales rose 3.9% over the previous month and were down 4.6% as compared to September 2005. As compared to August, sales of mounted bearings, standard industrial motors, variable speed drives, mechanical drive systems and other PT products, and gear products increased. Sales of unmounted bearings, positioning systems/linear motion products, clutches and brakes, and shaft couplings decreased.
Annualized sales to inventory ratio in September was 8.3, compared to 8.9 in September 2005.
For September, the confidence level of Canadian manufacturers held steady at 5.1 on a 10-point scale.
