Real gross domestic product increased at an annual rate of 1.9% in the third quarter of 2019, according to the advance estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the second quarter, real GDP increased 2%. More.
Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 128,000 in October, and the unemployment rate showed little changed at 3.6%, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Manufacturing employment decreased by 36,000 in October. Within manufacturing, employment in motor vehicles and parts declined by 42,000, reflecting strike activity.
