Hardware distributor Orgill, Inc., Memphis, TN, will begin construction on its sixth distribution center during the second quarter of 2007. While a site for the new distribution center has not yet been finalized, the facility will serve Orgill’s customers in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Southern Arkansas.
‘Our business in this region, as well as the rest of the country, has continued to grow, and this new facility will help us support that growth,’ said Ron Beal, Orgill’s president and CEO.
The facility will also take some of the distribution burden off of Orgill’s facilities in Memphis and Tifton, GA, which currently serve this area.
‘This new facility will allow us to improve our effectiveness across the board,’ says Randy Williams, Orgill’s senior vice president operations and logistics. ‘This will be a strategic location for us that will allow us to reduce our lead time and improve our service to customers within the four-state region as well as create operating efficiencies for us in Tifton and Memphis.’
The new facility will measure more than 500,000-square-feet and Orgill is anticipating that it will start serving customers in the first quarter of 2008.
This new facility will mark the first new distribution center Orgill has built since opening its fifth DC in Hurricane, UT, in 2005.
Orgill, Inc. currently has five domestic distribution centers and two export consolidation facilities. The distributor supplies hardware and home improvement products to hardware, home improvement and building material retailers across the U.S. and in 60 countries throughout the world.
