Ferguson Buys $46M Supply North Central Group

Ferguson, Newport News, VA, has acquired Supply North Central Group and its divisions, E& J Plumbing & Heating Supply Inc., Wagner Plumbing & Heating Supply Co., and D& C Plumbing & Heating Supply Co., in a stock transaction completed May 22, 2006. SNCG has annual sales about $46 million.


 


Supply North Central Group is headquartered in Ann Arbor, MI., with additional locations throughout Michigan in Utica, Walled Lake, Howell, Dearborn Heights, Traverse City, Petoskey, Waters and Kalamazoo. Founded in 1960, Supply North Central Group focuses on the sale of residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic heating products with a concentration in the high-end custom and semi-custom residential construction segment. 


 


SNCG serves the Michigan market with 11 showrooms and warehouse locations.  The company employs 140 associates. Dave Morrison, current SNCG president, will continue to lead the company.


  


Also on May 22, 2006, Ferguson  acquired the inventory and fixed assets of Central Lighting Inc. Central Lighting is a single location lighting business based in Jackson, MI, with revenues of $1.8 million and assets of $0.3 million as of Dec. 31, 2005.


 


On June 5, 2006, Ferguson acquired Davidson Electric Wholesale Supply Inc. Davidson is a distributor of electric and plumbing supplies in Lexington, NC. In the year ended March 31, 2005, Davidson had revenue of $5.5 million and assets of $2.9 million.


 


On May 8, 2006, Ferguson acquired the Montgomery, AL, branch of Central Supply Inc. Central Supply is a distributor of plumbing supplies with annual revenue of $6.5 million and assets of $1.6 million as of Nov. 30, 2004.


  


Ferguson is part of Wolseley plc, an international business operating in 14 countries in Europe and North America. Wolseley is a distributor of plumbing and heating products, with group sales for the year ended July 31, 2005, of $20.8 billion. 


 


Since the beginning of the financial year begun Aug. 1, 2005, Wolseley companies have acquired 50 businesses in Europe and North America.


 


Ferguson is a distributor of plumbing supplies; pipes, valves and fittings; waterworks; building materials; and heating and air conditioning products. Ferguson has annual sales of around $7.1 billion and more than 20,000 associates in more than 1,100 service centers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
