Construction spending during June 2008 was estimated at $1,081.9 billion, 0.4% below the revised May estimate, according to the U.S. Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce.
The June figure is 5.9% below the June 2007 estimate of $1,149.4 billion. During the first six months of this year, construction spending amounted to $514.2 billion, 5.4% below the same period in 2007.
Spending on private construction was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $780.6 billion, 0.4% below the revised May estimate of $783.9 billion.
