Some respondents to MDM’s recent survey on alternative energy markets said they had plans or were already involved in selling energy efficient products. At the same time, many had no plans or had not decided yet whether they wanted to make energy efficient products a key part of their product lines.
Some of the comments of those who are focusing in on energy efficiency:
"We plan to target more customers who are involved in this business. We also plan to establish relationships with more product manufacturers who make products used in these markets."
"This is a significant part of our new product development plans."
"We have a database of construction materials, and we are adding more energy efficient products to the directory for green building professionals."
"Focusing on energy efficient products to reduce energy consumption of our customers."
Both distributors and their customers have opportunities to save money using energy efficient products. SAJ Distributors, a distribution company owned by USA Drug, was featured last month in an article at www.pbcommercial.com for receiving a $30,000 incentive from Entergy Arkansas for its efforts to reduce energy costs. According to the article, the company replaced 2,800 flourescent light fixtures and 59 1,000-watt bulbs in its warehouse with energy-efficient lighting, as well as 400 fixtures in the office. The president expects to save between 30% and 50% on energy costs.
