Construction spending in July was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $900.8 billion, 0.6 percent above the revised June estimate, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The July figure is 5.2 percent above the July 2012 estimate.
During the first seven months of this year, construction spending was $493.9 billion, 5.6 percent above the same period in 2012.
Spending on private construction was $631.4 billion, 0.9 percent above the revised June estimate. Residential construction was $334.6 billion in July, 0.6 percent above the revised June estimate. Nonresidential construction was at $296.8 billion in July, 1.3 percent above the revised June estimate.
In July, public construction spending was $269.4 billion, 0.3 percent below the revised June estimate. Educational construction was $62.9 billion, 1.5 percent below the revised June estimate. Highway construction was $78 billion, 1.1 percent below the revised June estimate.
