In a recent visit to the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Industrial Distribution program, students told me that they were ready and excited to work in the industrial distribution industry.

Many of the students have plans to work for a distribution or manufacturing company this coming summer. Those that already have that experience offered their thoughts on how companies can make those internships more valuable for both the student and the company.
“Have a structure or plan. A quality internship isn’t really busywork 40 hours a week, like getting coffee or making copies.” John Murray, a junior, said.
Murray said that he wants exposure to each piece of a company so that after the internship is over the student has learned more about how distributors operate.
