Acuity Brands, Inc. (NYSE: AYI), Atlanta, GA, reported sales for its third quarter ended May 31, 2012, of $487.5 million, a 6.4 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 23.9 percent to $33.6 million.

For the first nine months, sales were $1.4 billion, a 9 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 16.5 percent to $83.1 million.
