PVF and infrastructure products distributor MRC Global announced that its Canada-based subsidiary — MRC Global ULC — agreed to sell its Canada operations to Emco Corporation.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
London, Ontario-based Emco is a plumbing, waterworks, industrial and HVAC products distributor. Founded as the Empire of Manufacturing Company Limited, the company carries a variety of products from manufacturers. In business since 1906, the company has a network of over 250 locations across Canada.
MRC Global said the divestiture refocuses the company’s strategy and future investments in core geographies and products with the greatest growth and profit potential. The sale is expected to close in the first half of 2025, and the company expects to use the proceeds for a reduction of debt.
“This divestiture will reposition our strategic focus and future capital investment decisions on our core geographies and product offerings that provide the strongest growth and profit potential,” MRC Global President and CEO Rob Saltiel said in a Dec. 16 news release. “The sale of our Canada business is expected to be accretive to our total company adjusted gross margins and adjusted EBITDA margins.”
Houston, TX-based MRC Global is No. 3 on MDM’s Top Distributor’s List for Industrial PVF and No. 15 for Industrial Supplies.
