In a step toward vertical integration, independent industrial distributor B&D Industrial acquired Westland, MI-based gear manufacturer American Gear & Engineering.
The acquisition is expected to deliver benefits to customers of both companies, including enhanced product offerings, expanded technical expertise and improved service capabilities, B&D Industrial officials said in a Feb. 13 news release.
“B&D Industrial’s extensive network and resources will allow us to grow and exceed the evolving needs of the industries we serve,” American Gear Founder Jeff Emerson said.
The deal includes Tech Tool Company, a complementary gear rack manufacturer.
As a part of B&D Industrial’s vertical integration strategy, the organization recently divested its subsidiary company Scale Systems Inc. to System Scale based in Indianapolis, IN.
“New growth will help us serve more local communities, now throughout Georgia and our expanding coverage in Tennessee,” said Mike Sale, CEO of System Scale.
