Universal City, TX-based HVACR components master distributor Global and its subsidiary AmRad Manufacturing integrated with Motors & Armatures (MARS) through a private acquisition by global investment firm Platinum Equity.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Established in 1982, Global supplies HVAC/R wholesalers across the U.S. The company has a vertically integrated design and manufacturing operation, through its Florida-based AmRad Manufacturing subsidiary. This subsidiary is responsible for producing Turbo 200 products.
“The investment from Platinum will allow us to introduce more products to market while continuing to maintain the outstanding service levels that both MARS and Global customers demand,” Global Owner and President Dickie Sirotiak said in a Dec. 6 news release.
Hauppauge, NY-based MARS is a distribution platform for HVAC/R parts, supplies and equipment. Since 2012, the company has served as an exclusive sub-distributor for certain Global products. According to the press release, the integration of Global and MARS will enhance the product and service offerings for both companies.
Platinum Equity said that the Global investment will feature a new leadership structure for the combined platform:
- Sirotiak will continue as President of Global, overseeing operations in Texas and Florida.
- Philip Windham has been appointed CEO, responsible for both MARS and Global.
- Eddie Chernoff will transition to Executive Chairman, after serving as President and CEO since 2016.
This is Platinum Equity’s second investment in the HVAC/R industry in 2024 following its investment in MARS.
