Dakota Supply Group (DSG) announced Sept. 1 its acquisition of North Dakota-based Western Streel and Plumbing.
With locations in Bismarck and Minot, North Dakota, Western Steel and Plumbing has been a distributor of plumbing and HVAC products since 1949.
“After three generations as a family business and personally 50 years as an employee of Western Steel, I know the time has come to depart and watch the business grow and prosper in the future,” Western Steel owner Maury Kamins said.
Western Steel will operate as Western Steel and Plumbing, a DSG Company, before eventually fully transitioning to the DSG brand, according to a press release.
“We’re excited to welcome the Western Steel and Plumbing associates to the DSG team of employee-owners,” DSG president and CEO Paul Kennedy said. “The addition of Western Steel complements our existing strong electrical and waterworks presence in the state and provides a platform for further segment expansion throughout North Dakota.”
Plymouth, Minnesota-based DSG is a distributor for the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, utility, communications, automation and waterworks industries. DSG employs 900 at over 500 locations across seven states.
DSG’s footprint in North Dakota expands to six locations with the acquisition. Western Steel’s Bismarck and Minot facilities add to DSG’s existing Fargo, Grand Forks, Dickinson and Williston locations.
