In its first entrance to the Canadian market, Dallas-based building controls and automation distributor Building Controls & Solutions acquired building controls distributor Yorkland Controls.
Yorkland Controls is a Toronto-based distributor founded in 1973 that serves the building controls, combustion controls and parts industry. The acquisition will add capacity and expand Yorkland’s product portfolio in the building automation and smart building markets across Canada, and makes BCS an international distributor.
With the deal, BCS will go from 17 U.S. locations to 26 total branches across the U.S. and Canada, including nine Yorkland Controls branches across Canada.
“This is a milestone in the evolution of our companies,” said Eric Chernik, CEO of Building Controls & Solutions, in an April 2 news release. “By combining the strengths, expertise and resources of BCS and Yorkland, we are creating a North American team that will set new standards in building automation and parts distribution, delivering unmatched value to our clients. We are confident that this merger will bring significant benefits to our stakeholders and the industry as a whole.”
The combined entity will position itself as a comprehensive distributor with an expanded portfolio of services, product availability and in-house technical expertise to serve local markets across North America.
