Food and foodservice products distributor Performance Food Group announced it will invest approximately $33.2 million in an East Tennessee expansion, and approved two changes to its leadership.
PFG Expands in Tennessee
To better support PFG’s “growing customer base,” PFG will expand operations at its facility in Morristown, TN.
“This expansion is an important step to providing our customers more product options while continuing to provide the world-class service PFG is known for,” said PFG Regional President Barry Dorris in a Dec. 18 news release.
PFG placed on MDM’s unranked 2024 Top Food & Beverage Distributors List based on a 2023 revenue of $57.3 billion.
PFG Promotes COO, Establishes Chief Development Office Position
Effective Jan. 1, Scott McPherson will be promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer, a post previously held by Craig Hoskins. Hoskins will now transition into the newly established position of Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Development Officer.
Most recently, McPerson served as EVP and Chief Field Operations Officer. In his new role, McPherson will continue to oversee PFG’s three business segments: Foodservice, Convenience and Vistar. He will focus on the company’s growth and will be responsible for all aspects of these businesses.
Throughout his 30-year career, McPherson has held numerous leadership positions with Core-Mark including SVP roles for the company’s U.S. Division, Corporate Development, COO and President and CEO.
In the new role, Hoskins will lead the integration efforts of PFG’s two recent acquisitions, Cheney Brothers and Jose Santiago, to help ensure the company “maximizes the strengths” of these two organizations across the PFG enterprise.
For the past three years, Hoskins served as President and COO of PFG. He has also held positions as President and CEO of Performance Foodservice and President and CEO of PFG Customized. His career with PFG began in 1990 with the legacy company that became Vistar, where he successively held roles in marketing, sales, purchasing and operations.
“At PFG, we believe that having a strong leadership team is one of the cornerstones of our success,” said Holm. “By investing in the development of our leaders, we ensure our team is equipped to drive innovation, foster growth, and seamlessly navigate an ever-evolving marketplace.”
PFG has more than 150 locations across North America with five broadline foodservice locations in Tennessee including Morristown, Johnson City, Knoxville, Lebanon and Nashville. The company’s roots date back to 1885 when the founder began selling groceries for a wholesaler in Richmond, VA. The company officially became PFG in 1987.
