Knoxville, TN-based welding and gases distributor Holston Gases appointed Joe Baxter as President, effective Sept. 1.

Baxter succeeds Robert Anders, President of Holston Gases since 1997. Anders will continue his position as CEO, while Baxter also continues as Chairman.

Baxter has been with the company for 15 years. In 2009, he began his career with Holston Gases in sales in Kentucky, then preceded to rise within the company as Manager of the Lexington branch, then Regional VP of the state of Kentucky.

He assumed the role of Executive VP of the company after returning to Knoxville in 2022.

“We are all so proud of how hard Joe has worked to put himself in the position to lead the day-to-day operation of Holston Gases,” Holston Gases CEO Robert Anders said in an Aug. 6 news release. “We are extremely excited about the future under Joe’s direction.”

Founded in 1958 by Pat Baxter and Bob Walsh — Holston Gases was a two-man operation that expanded with the addition of people from national companies who sought an independent atmosphere and family-owned company.

Joe Baxter appointed President of Holston Gases, effective Sept. 1.
