Fasteners and other hardware products distributor Hillman Solutions announced a leadership succession plan set for the start of 2025, and a cleaning supplies acquisition.
Leadership Transition
Hillman appointed Jon Michael Adinolfi (“JMA”) — current COO — President and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2025, at which point current Chairman, President and CEO Doug Cahill will transition to Executive Chairman.
“Leading Hillman for the past ten years as Chairman and the past five years as CEO has been a remarkable highlight of my career,” Cahill said in an Aug. 6 news release. “As JMA takes the reins, I have the utmost confidence that he will further strengthen Hillman’s relationship with our customers and investors while driving Hillman forward with profitable growth.”
Adinolfi served as Hillman U.S. Divisional President since joining the company in 2019. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Stanley Black & Decker beginning in 2011, leading to his role of President of U.S. Retail with the company. He previously was President of Crown Bolt — a fastener supplier for Home Depot during that time.
“JMA is a great leader and has excellent rapport with the Hillman team and our customers,” Cahill added. “We hired JMA five years ago and felt strongly that he would be a perfect fit as Hillman’s next leader, now becoming the just the sixth CEO in Hillman’s 60-year history.”
Acquisition
Cincinnati, OH-based Hillman acquired wiping cloths, consumable rags and cleaning textiles supplier Intex DIY, Inc.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Big Time Products — Hillman’s subsidiary — was the acquiring entity.
Atlanta, GA-based Intex operates from a 275,000-square-foot distribution and manufacturing facility. The company sells its products through several retail channels — home improvement centers, paints retailers, hardware stores and other general merchandisers.
“Intex has a wide range of products in the cleaning category and will make a great addition to Hillman,” Cahill said in an Aug. 26 news release. “We will leverage the Hillman moat to sell and service this new product line with both new and existing customers.”
The acquisition will expand Hillman’s Protective Solutions business, which includes: the work glove, Firm Grip, Gorilla Grip, Grease Monkey, AWP, Digz and others. Additionally, Hillman entered a partnership with Kontoor Brands to launch works gloves under the Wrangler brand — expected to begin in 2025.
The acquisition is the second for Hillman — No. 5 on MDM’s Top Distributor’s List for Fasteners, No. 22 for Industrial Supplies and No. 16 for MRO — in 2024 after it acquired Wichita, KS-based Koch Industries in January.
