Wholesale distributor HD Supply named Marc Brown CEO. Brown joined The Home Depot in 1998, and most recently served as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain.
During his 25-year tenure with the company, he has held a wide range of leadership positions across Store Operations, Pro and Supply Chain. Brown’s experiences throughout the company include tool rental, pro sales, Regional Vice President and Senior Vice President of Retail Operations.
Brown succeeds Shane O’Kelley, who was named CEO of Advanced Auto Parts.
Brown has played a “critical role” in transformational initiatives that have helped The Home Depot serve its customers and associates through a period of rapid growth, such as freight flow initiatives, on-shelf availability of products, and The Home Depot’s enhanced retail labor model, company officials said in a Sept. 25 news release.
“I am thrilled to be joining the HD Supply family, a company that is an innovative and solutions-oriented leader in the maintenance, repair & operations (MRO) industry,” Brown said.
HD Supply was re-acquired by The Home Depot in 2020 for $8 billion after divesting it in 2007. In August, The Home Depot released details on how HD Supply will add value and help the retail giant tap deeper into what it estimates is a $100 billion MRO market.
HD Supply is part of Home Depot’s Pro Institutional business unit, which ranked on MDM’s 2023 Top Distributors list as No. 7 on the Industrial list and No. 5 on the MRO list.
