Global technology distributor and solutions provider Avent has tapped Rebeca Obregon to lead its electronics components distributor Farnell.
Obregon, who will take her new post on July 1, has more than 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. She previously served as Avent’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Engagements and Supplier Management, where she led Avnet’s United, Velocity and Integrated business units, IP&E (interconnect, passive and electromechanical) supplier management and strategy, and mergers and acquisitions.
“Since joining Avnet’s leadership team last year, Rebeca has shown her deep commitment to delivering results for our suppliers, customers, partners, and employees,” Avnet CEO Phil Gallagher said in a June 25 news release. “Farnell remains a critical part of Avnet’s overall success and value proposition, and I’m confident that Rebeca is the right leader to steer the organization through its next chapter.”
Before joining Avnet in 2023, she was a Corporate Vice President at Amkor Technology.
The announcement comes less than a month after Phoenix-based Avnet reported its 2024 third quarter, showing that sales decelerated further amid what the company cited as economic softness and lower market demand. Farnell sales in particular were down 10.4% year-over-year to $408 million.
