Sonepar announced Sept. 2 that its U.S. subsidiary World Electric Supply (Jacksonville, Florida) has entered into an agreement to acquire Advance Electrical (Norcross, Georgia). The acquisition will close by the end of September, according to a news release.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“With the acquisition of Advance Electrical, World Electric will greatly increase their current operations within in the Atlanta market, which is experiencing tremendous growth,” Sonepar North America President Rob Taylor said. “This is a great opportunity to connect geographies and expertise and expand the level of services and capabilities for customers.”

“After just a few meetings with World Electric, we realized the extent of resources they have available,” Advance Electrical Owner Dennis Purvis said. “It’s exciting to think about how World Electric will build our business capabilities, provide our associates with incredible opportunities, and elevate our service to the electrical contractors in our markets.”

World Electric was founded in North Miami Beach, Florida, in 1999 and has since expanded to 16 locations throughout Florida and Georgia. Its inventory includes wires, cables, circuit breakers, receptacles and electrical fittings. World Electric is a subsidiary of Philadelphia-based Sonepar USA — which ranked No. 2 among electrical, data and security distributors in Modern Distribution Management’s 2022 Top Distributor list. Sonepar USA is the U.S. division of the Paris-based Sonepar Group.

Advance Electrical, which has a strong presence in Atlanta, will expand World Electric’s Georgia footprint, the news release said.
