About three months after Sonepar announced it would acquire Summit Electric Supply, the latter electrical distributor appointed Dwayne Roberts as its president, effective Jan. 3.
Roberts, who is Summit’s Vice President of Operations with over two decades of experience in the electrical distribution industry, will replace current President Ed Gerber, who will leave the company to “pursue another opportunity,” according to a company news release.
“Dwayne has been an integral part of our leadership team, working side by side with me on our strategic growth plans and organizational development over the last three years,” Gerber said. “He is fully aligned with our core mission, vision and values, and his transition into the President’s role will ensure consistency across our organization. Summit’s momentum, customer-centric focus, and strong supplier partnerships will continue to thrive under Dwayne’s leadership.”
Before joining Summit in April 2022, Roberts spent over 21 years at Graybar in various accounting and operational leadership roles.
This appointment signifies completion of the acquisition of Summit. Summit, previously No. 21 on MDM’s 2024 Top Electrical/Data/Security Distributors List, has now joined MDM’s No. 2 on the list. The deal gained Sonepar 23 branch locations in the U.S. southwest and more than 700 associates.
