Electrical materials supplier Independent Electric will rebrand and restructure to enable more efficient operation and streamline supply chains in California and Arizona.
In August 2011, Independent Electric was acquired by Sonepar USA, a division of the privately held Sonepar Group. Now, segments of the company will merge under three fellow Sonepar brands throughout 2024 as follows:
- Independent Electric California will join OneSource Distributors.
- Independent Electric Arizona will start doing business under the QED brand.
- Independent Utility Supply will join Irby Utilities.
The changes will give all customers access to broader, deeper and closer inventory, as well as offer value-added services and solutions, according to the company website.
Independent Electric — which serves the electrical construction market — operates 11 electrical supply branches in Northern California and six branches in Arizona. The branches are supported by two Central Distribution Centers: a 200,000-square-foot center in San Leandro, CA, and a 135,000-square-foot center in Phoenix, AZ.
