Chemical distributor Univar Inc. (NYSE: UNVR), Downers Grove, IL, reported sales for the third quarter of $2 billion, up 2.5 percent compared to the same quarter a year ago. The company reported a profit of $38.9 million for the quarter, compared to a loss of $63 million the prior year.
For the first nine months, sales were up 0.5 percent year-over-year to $6.3 billion. The company reported a profit of $92.8 million for the period, compared to a loss of $9.2 million the prior year.
