Rockwood Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ROC), Princeton, NJ, reported sales for the second quarter of $362.3 million, a 4.1 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 32.7 percent to $34.1 million.
For the first six months, sales were $716.8 million, up 4 percent from the same period one year ago. Profit increased 43.6 percent to $77.7 million.
“Our core businesses, surface treatment and lithium battery applications, delivered solid performance in the quarter,” CEO Robert Zatta said. “In our lithium segment, battery grade lithium carbonate and hydroxide delivered significant double-digit sales growth, partially mitigating weaker potash and organometallic products sales.”
