Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY), Federal Way, WA, reported sales for the second quarter of $2 billion, up 4.8 percent year-over-year. Profit increased 42.9 percent to $280 million.
"Through the recent divestiture of our homebuilding business and last year's Longview Timber acquisition, we have created a focused forest products company committed to driving operational improvements and fully capitalizing on the continued measured recovery in U.S. housing markets and the overall economy," said Doyle Simons, president and CEO.
Year-to-date sales were $3.7 billion, up 2 percent over the prior-year period. Profit increased 36.2 percent to $463 million.
