Universal Forest Products Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPI), Grand Rapids, MI, reported 2015 sales of $2.9 billion, up 8.5 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 40 percent to $80.6 million.
For the fourth quarter, sales were $653.6 million, up 5.4 percent over the prior-year period. Profit was $18.9 million, compared to $9.3 million the prior year.
Fourth-quarter sales in the company’s retail ($230.7 million) and industrial ($209.3 million) businesses improved year-over-year, with increases of 13.6 percent and 4.7 percent, respectively. Sales for the construction ($221.2 million) business decreased 1.6 percent.
