Universal Forest Products Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPI), Grand Rapids, MI, reported third-quarter sales of $762.3 million, up 6.8 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 32.9 percent to $25.6 million.
Third-quarter sales in the company’s retail ($295.3 million), industrial ($236 million) and construction ($241.8 million) businesses improved year-over-year, with increases of 9.2 percent, 10.9 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively.
For the first nine months, UFPI had sales of $2.2 billion, up 9.5 percent over the prior-year period. Profit grew 27.9 percent to $61.7 million.
