Universal Forest Products Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPI), Grand Rapids, MI, reported 2016 sales of $3.2 billion, up 12.2 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 25.5 percent to $101.2 million.
For the fourth quarter, sales were $859.6 million, up 31.5 percent over the prior-year period. Profit increased 9.5 percent to $20.7 million from the prior-year quarter.
Fourth-quarter sales in the company’s retail ($275.7 million) and industrial ($318.6 million) businesses improved year-over-year, with increases of 19.4 percent and 52.2 percent, respectively. Sales for the construction ($275.6 million) business increased 24.7 percent.
