Universal Forest Products Sales Jump 20% in 2013

Universal Forest Products construction sales up 31% in 2013.

Universal Forest Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: UFPI), Grand Rapids, MI, reported full year sales for 2013 of $2.5 billion, an increase of 20.2 percent from 2012. Profit was $43.1 million, an increase of 80.3 percent.

Fourth quarter sales were $525.7 million, an increase of 11.7 percent from the same period the previous year. Profit was $8 million, compared to a loss of $1.9 million from the fourth quarter of 2012.

Retail sales were up 6.6 percent for the quarter and up 11.9 percent for the year.

Construction sales were up 14.5 percent for the quarter and up 31.3 percent for the year.

Industrial sales were up 14 percent for the quarter and up 19 percent for the year.

“We saw much improved performance in housing and construction versus last year and a high and steadily rising lumber market through most of the fourth quarter," said Matthew J. Missad, CEO of Universal Forest Products.
