United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE: URI), Stamford, CT, said its board of directors has appointed Matthew Flannery, the company’s president and chief operating officer (COO), as its next president and chief executive officer (CEO). The change will become effective this spring.
The board also said that Michael Kneeland, current CEO, will become non-executive chairman of the company, and that board member Bobby Griffin will become lead independent director. All changes are effective May 8, 2019, when company Chairman Jenne Britell and CEO Michael Kneeland will step down from their respective positions, the company said.
