Both The Home Depot (NYSE: HD), Atlanta, GA, and Lowe's Companies Inc. (NYSE: LOW), Mooresville, NC, said they will increase their financial support for communities affected by recent disasters following Hurricane Michael’s devastating blow to the Gulf Coast.
Both companies are increasing their disaster relief funding from $2 million to $4 million.
The Home Depot said its increased commitment adds to funding provided to nonprofit partners for other disasters throughout 2018, including Hurricanes Florence and Olivia, the California wildfires and flooding in the Midwest.
Lowe’s said its additional $2 million will help support both the short- and long-term needs of Gulf Coast communities. The company is working with nonprofit groups and government agencies to provide relief.
