Building materials distributor Kodiak Building Partners acquired Minnesota-based Kendell Lumber.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Established in 1963, Kendell Lumber is a distributor of building materials to the commercial and residential markets. The company serves customers with a range of products, including paint and stain, millwork, siding, pole sheds, closets, cabinetry and countertops, door, patios and more.

Additionally, the independently owned and operated company is a True Value Home and Hardware Center, but was unaffected by the company’s Chapter 11 filing and subsequent sale.

As part of the acquisition, Kendell Lumber’s operations will be fully integrated into Simonson Lumber — both of which are now part of Kodiak BP — consolidating resources and streamlining operations under the Simonson Lumber brand.

“The combination of Kendell Lumber and Simonson Lumber represents an exciting opportunity to build on their shared values and operational strengths,” Kodiak BP CEO Steve Swinney said in a Jan. 14 news release. “By bringing these teams together, we’re improving services, expanding opportunities for employees and strengthening Kodiak’s presence in Minnesota.”

Through the transaction, Simonson Lumber will broaden its product and service offerings, while improving logistics, inventory management and customer service to better meet the evolving needs of builders and contractors, company officials said.

Kendell Lumber employees will become part of the Simonson team, gaining access to career development opportunities with the combined organization.
