June 2014 construction spending was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $950.2 billion, 1.8 percent below the revised May estimate, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The June 2014 figure is 5.5 percent above the June 2013 estimate.
During the first six months of the year, construction spending was $445.1 billion, 7.8 percent above the same period in 2013.
Private construction was $685.5 billion, 1 percent below the revised May estimate. Residential construction was $355.9 billion, down 0.3 percent from May. Nonresidential construction was $329.5 billion, down 1.6 percent from May.
Public construction was $264.7 billion, a 4 percent decrease from the revised May estimate. Educational construction was $59.7 billion, a 4.9 percent decrease from May. Highway construction was $75.3 billion, down 10.4 percent from May.
