In its second acquisition this month, commercial door, frame and hardware distributor The Cook & Boardman Group has added Elkridge, MD-based material distributors Bunting Door & Hardware Co. and Loktek. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1983, Bunting Door & Hardware (and Loktek) provide a variety of commercial doors, frames and hardware, in addition to electronic access control products. Bunting and Loktek serve Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia.
“Bunting is one of the most respected CDH companies in the Mid-Atlantic region and we are delighted to have them join the Cook & Boardman family of companies,” Cook & Boardman CEO David Eisner said in a July 17 news release. “Their team provides a wide range of products and services that will complement our existing offerings in the market and strengthen our leading position all along the East Coast.”
The company will continue to operate under the Bunting and Loktek names and Cook & Boardman said customer contacts will remain unchanged as a result of the acquisition.
Bunting represents Cook & Boardman’s fifth acquisition under Platinum Equity’s ownership.
Cook & Boardman Adds McBride Door
Earlier this month, the distributor acquired Poway, CA-based McBride Door and Hardware and Eight Ten Commercial. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 2000, McBride Door and Hardware, and Eight-Ten Commercial, provide a variety of commercial doors, frames and hardware in California and Nevada.
In June, Cook & Boardman also acquired a family of material distributors serving Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
Platinum Equity acquired a majority interest in Cook & Boardman in 2023. Littlejohn & Co. remains a significant minority shareholder.
