Builders FirstSource Inc. (Nasdaq: BLDR), Dallas, TX, reported sales for the third quarter of $1.7 billion, flat compared to the same period a year ago on a pro forma basis, adjusted to include the acquisition of ProBuild. On a pro forma basis, profit was $34.7 million, compared to $15.8 million the prior year.

Unadjusted sales for the third quarter were $1.3 billion, nearly double sales of $434.9 million during the same period a year ago. The company reported a loss of $8.8 million for the quarter, compared to a profit of $8.5 million the prior year.

For the first nine months, the company reported a loss of $12.3 million for the period, compared to a profit of $8.5 million the prior year.
