Boise Cascade Company (NYSE: BCC), Boise, ID, reported third-quarter sales of $991.6 million, up 1 percent from the same period a year ago. Profit fell 32 percent to $22 million.
For the first nine months sales were $2.8 billion, up 1.7 percent over the prior-year period. Profit fell 22.4 percent to $49.9 million.
Building materials distribution sales increased 3 percent in the third quarter to $799 million. The overall increase in sales was driven by sales volume increases of 8 percent, offset partially by a decrease in sales prices of 5 percent.
Wood products sales fell 4 percent in the third quarter to $340.6 million. The decrease in sales was driven primarily by decreases in plywood and lumber sales prices of 16 percent and 13 percent, respectively.
