Boise Cascade Company (NYSE: BCC), Boise, ID, reported second-quarter sales of $955.4 million, down 1 percent from the same period a year ago. Profit fell 23 percent to $20.2 million.
For the six months ended June 30, sales were $1.8 billion, up 2 percent over the prior-year period. Profit fell 13 percent to $27.8 million.
Building materials distribution sales increased slightly in the second quarter to $762.1 million, compared to $758.4 million a year ago. The overall increase in sales was driven by sales volume increases of 3 percent, offset by a decrease in sales prices of 3 percent.
Wood products sales fell 3 percent in the second quarter to $339.9million. The decrease in sales was driven primarily by decreases in plywood sales volumes and lumber sales prices of 5 percent and 16 percent, respectively.
