Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. (NASDAQ: BECN), Peabody, MA, reported sales for the fiscal third quarter ended June 30 of $1.2 billion, a 5.3 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 8.5 percent to $44.7 million.

Residential roofing product sales increased 8.3 percent, nonresidential roofing product sales decreased 4.7 percent, and complementary product sales increased 15.7 percent over the prior year. 

For the first nine months, sales were $3.1 billion, up 4.5 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit was $55.7 million, up 31.1 percent year-over-year.
