Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. (NASDAQ: BECN), Herndon, VA, reported sales for the fiscal second quarter of $870.7 million, a 5.7 percent increase year-over-year. Beacon reported a loss of $9.3 million, down from a loss of $5.7 million in the prior-year quarter.

Residential roofing product sales for the quarter increased 11.8 percent, non-residential roofing sales decreased 9.4 percent and complementary product sales increased 17.6 percent year-over-year.

For the first six months, the company reported sales of $1.87 billion, up 4 percent from the prior-year period. Profit increased 691.5 percent to $11 million.
