Cincinnati-based hardware manufacturer and distributor Hillman Solutions has opened a new 305,000-square-foot distribution center in Belton, Missouri, the company announced April 25. Hillman ranked No. 6 on MDM’s Top Fastener Distributors list in 2022.
Hillman relocated the distribution hub from Rialto, California, to Belton, a southern suburb of Kansas City, in order to reach customers faster, according to a news release.
“As 85 percent of the U.S. population can be reached in one to two business days, the central location of the new distribution hub will allow us to better serve our customers,” Hillman President and CEO Doug Cahill said in the release.
The Kansas City-area facility will be optimal for logistics, according to Cahill, and will be able to reach the more than 40,000 retail locations Hillman ships to faster than it could in California. Hillman chose the Kansas City area — which has 30% more interstate miles per capita than any other U.S. city — for its abundant access to rail, air, water and road transportation.
“Taking care of the customer is in our DNA and this move will help us do just that,” Cahill said.
The move is expected to create 120 new jobs in Belton, according to the release.
