On March 22, Atlanta-based Genuine Parts Company announced that it has selected Google Cloud as an innovation partner to support GPC’s business transformation and “further improve the customer experience.”

In a news release, GPC said it will use Google Cloud services to modernize digital, store, supply chain and advanced data platforms to improve the experience for customers.

“As we invest in technology to modernize our business capabilities and strengthen the foundations for operational excellence and profitable growth, we couldn’t be more pleased than to partner with Google Cloud,” said Naveen Krishna, Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer for GPC. “Google Cloud will play a critical role in accelerating our business transformation and innovation.”

GPC said it expects to leverage Google Cloud offerings to improve the technology infrastructure that supports more than 10,000 stores and fulfillment centers.

“Advanced data and analytics platforms will also enable supply chain modernization around inventory visibility, facility productivity and logistics,” GPC said in the news release.

GPC reported its 2022 fourth-quarter and full-year financial results Feb. 23, showing that its industrial parts segment, Motion, continued to produce strong growth following its acquisition of Kaman Distribution Group in 2022. GPC reported that Motion 4Q 2022 sales were $2.1 billion, up 29.6% year-over-year.

Motion, was No. 3 on MDM’s 2022 Top Distributors List. Motion also ranked No. 3 for MRO, No. 1 in Power Transmission/Bearings.

“We’re honored to be chosen as Genuine Parts Company’s innovation partner, helping enable the company’s next phase of growth and expansion,” said Jose Gomes, Managing Director, Retail and Consumer for Google Cloud. “Google Cloud’s technology will support the industry leader’s efforts to execute new supply chain initiatives, enhance sales effectiveness, improve the digital customer experience, and so much more.”
