City Electric Supply (CES) had a busy first quarter in terms of organic expansion. In the first three months of 2023, the Dallas-based electrical wholesale distributor opened 13 new branches across the U.S., including its second location in Puerto Rico, according to a news release.
“We’re excited to be expanding our footprint in Puerto Rico just two years after opening our first location on the island,” CES co-Chief Operating Officer John Gray said in the release. “It all starts with finding the right people. That’s a top priority each time we open a new branch. So we can continue providing our customers with what they’re used to—unmatched, personalized service.”
The new location is in Arecibo, about 45 minutes west of CES Cataño, which is the company’s San Juan-area location.
“It’s exciting to be opening another CES location here on the island of Puerto Rico,” CES Arecibo Branch Manager Jose Rodriguez said in the release. “My team and I have been trusted with a big responsibility, and it’s a dream come true to bring this to life and service this local market.”
CES, which has a significant presence in the southeastern U.S., emphasized growing its footprint in other regions to start 2023. The 13 branches CES opened in the first quarter included three in Texas, two in Tennessee and several across the Midwest:
- Arecibo, Puerto Rico
- Waller, Texas
- Avon, Indiana
- Fenton, Michigan
- Warsaw, Missouri
- Houston Westchase, Texas
- Baldwin (Corpus Christi), Texas
- Cleveland Crossing, North Carolina
- Greenville, Ohio
- Cleveland, Tennessee
- Fort Myers East, Florida
- Merritt Island, Florida
- Manchester, Tennessee
CES Fenton is the company’s 10th location in Michigan, while CES Avon is its 13th branch in Indiana.
“We are trying to expand our web of branches here in Michigan, and we wanted to put a new CES location in Fenton,” CES Michigan East District Manager Brad Jenks said in the release. “This CES location will help connect some dots between our existing branches, such as Brighton, Waterford, and Lansing, to help support our existing business and help new customers with their needs as well.”
The electrical distributor has also continued to expand in Houston, which is growing into one of its largest markets.
“Opening CES Houston Westchase will help us connect some existing branches in areas nearby,” CES Houston South District Manager Daren Thode said in the release. “CES Rosenburg is on the west side of Houston, and CES has stores in places like Katy and Stafford. CES Katy is about 40 minutes from the Stafford location. This Westchase location is going to plug a hole right in the middle of that route.”
With the new branches it opened in the first quarter, CES now has nearly 600 locations across 30 states in the U.S., according to its website. CES ranked No. 8 on MDM’s Top Electrical, Data & Security Distributors list in 2022.
