Global technology solutions provider Avnet, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVT) is expanding at two sites in Germany, the company announced.
Avnet Embedded broke ground on its new multi-million-euro manufacturing site located at Breisgau Industrial Park in Eschbach near Freiburg, Germany. The new facility will focus on industrial electronic systems and is a direct response to a significant growth in global demand for innovative embedded solutions, Avent said. The project is scheduled to finish in early 2023.
Eschbach will have about twice as much manufacturing space connected to a large logistics space compared to the current facility in Freiburg, Avnet said.
“At Avnet, we see the embedded business worldwide as the growth engine of the future and are therefore continually expanding our design and manufacturing capacities for industrial electronic systems,” said Dr. Dominik Ressing, vice president of Avnet Embedded. “With the new site, we are taking a major step towards realizing double-digit growth in the coming years. Moreover, we intend to maintain the company’s in-house expertise in the most advanced technologies.”
Avnet EMEA also recently announced an investment of more than £225 million in a high-performance distribution center in Bernburg. The building will be approximately 56,000 square meters of logistics space for electronic components including semiconductor electronics, the company said.
