Automative parts supplier Tram, Inc. said it will close its TRIN plant in Ashley, Indiana, at the end of March 2024, according to WARN notice given to the state’s Department of Workforce Development.
The company said it expects 155 people to be affected by the permanent layoffs. The plant is located at 803 H.L. Thompson Jr. Dr. in Ashley.
“Employee layoffs are expected to begin on November 1, 2023 and continue until March 31, 2024,” the company said in its notice. “None of the employees are represented by a union. There are no bumping rights available. However, employees will be given an opportunity to transfer to a related entity in Michigan.”
According to the notice, 116 associates, 30 staff members and nine managers are affected.
TRIN is a Japanese owned tier 1 supplier of automotive parts to companies such as Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Ford, and General Motors. Founded in 1997, the company is headquartered in Ashley.
