The Producer Price Index for final demand rose 0.4 percent in June, seasonally adjusted, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Final demand prices rose 0.5 percent in May and declined 0.4 percent in April. On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index declined 0.7 percent for the 12 months ended in June, the fifth straight 12-month decrease.
In June, nearly two-thirds of the increase in the final demand index can be attributed to prices for final demand goods, which rose 0.7 percent. The index for final demand services advanced 0.3 percent.
Within intermediate demand, prices for processed goods climbed 0.7 percent, the index for unprocessed goods increased 1.2 percent and prices for services moved up 0.4 percent.
