Compared with the same month a year ago, October seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector increased by 1.1 percent in the euro area (EA19) and by 1.2 percent in the EU28, according to Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
Compared with September, production in construction increased by 0.5 percent in the euro area and by 0.1 percent in the EU28.
The increase of 0.5 percent in production in construction in the euro area in October 2015, compared with September 2015, is due to civil engineering rising by 1.5 percent and building construction by 0.3 percent. In the EU28, the increase of 0.1 percent is due to civil engineering rising by 0.4 percent and building construction by 0.1 percent.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in production in construction were recorded in Slovakia (+2.4 percent), Sweden (+1.8 percent), Spain (+1.3 percent) and Romania (+1 percent), and the largest decreases in Hungary (-7.6 percent), Poland (-1.6 percent) and the Czech Republic (-1.5 percent).
The increase of 1.1 percent in production in construction in the euro area in October 2015, compared with October 2014, is due to civil engineering rising by 1.1 percent and building construction by 1 percent. In the EU28, the increase of 1.2 percent is due to civil engineering rising by 3 percent and building construction by 1 percent.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in production in construction were recorded in Slovakia (+29.7 percent), Sweden (+13.8 percent), Romania (+10.2 percent) and Spain (+8.2 percent), and the largest decreases in Slovenia (-11.8 percent), Hungary (-7.8 percent) and Bulgaria (-5.2 percent).
