New U.S. orders for manufactured durable goods are up for the fourth consecutive month.
June orders increased $13.6 billion from May to $302.5 billion, according to advance data released by the U.S. Census Bureau on July 27. The 4.7% increase in new orders for manufactured durable goods in June follows a 2.0% increase to $288.9 billion in May from the previous month and a 1.2% increase in April from March.
The increase was led by transportation equipment orders, which were up 12.1% (or $12.4 billion) to $115.3 billion. This category has also been up for four consecutive months.
Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.6%. Excluding defense, new orders increased 6.2%
