The U.S. Census Bureau released its advance statistics for international trade, wholesale inventories and retail inventories advance statistics for February on March 29.
The figures showed that February wholesale inventories — adjusted for seasonal and trading day differences, but not for price — ended the month at a level of $901.1 billion, up 0.5% from January and down 1.6% year-over-year. The December to January change was unrevised from down 0.2%.
Retail inventories likewise ended February up 0.5% vs. January to a level of $808.5 billion, and up 5.6% year-over-year. The December to January change was revised up from 0.4% to 0.5%.
Meanwhile, the Bureau reported that the U.S. international trade deficit was $91.8 billion in February, up $1.3 billion from January. Exports of goods for February were $175.1 billion, $4.8 billion more than January exports. Imports of goods for February were $266.9 billion, $6.1 billion more than January imports.
