Two motion control and factory automation providers are combining to create one of the largest automation and fluid power distributors in the United States.
Auburn Hills, Michigan-based Morrell Group will join Farmers Branch, Texas-based Womack Machine Supply to form a national footprint covering 27 states, with a combined team of over 400 employees.
Womack is No. 55 on MDM’s 2023 Top Industrial Distributors list, and No. 13 on the Fluid Power list.
This is the first deal for Womack Machine Supply since the company was privately acquired by Platte Equity Group in February. Morrell and Womack officials said in a news release that they attribute the combination to their aligned cultural values and shared aspiration for growth as an engineering partner, systems integrator, and value-added distributor of advanced motion control solutions for industrial and mobile applications.
“By working together to combine our best capabilities, we’re creating opportunities to accelerate our growth in ways that would never be possible otherwise,” explains Matt Oldroyd, CEO of Womack Group. “The combined strength of our industry expertise and experience allows us to further apply our solutions, services, and products in more industries across a broader footprint than ever before.”
Morrell and Womack provide complete engineering solutions, such as conceptual engineering with the Motioneer team and factory-authorized hydraulics service and repair. Their combined product line offers comprehensive solutions for aerospace, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), agriculture, mining, construction, automotive, energy, and more across the United States.
Brand names, including Morrell Group subsidiaries LOR Mobile Controls and Stegner Controls, will remain unchanged.
Womack welcomes Morell Group President Mark Garrett and Mark Majewski, President of Industrial and Factory Automation at Morrell, to its executive team.
