U.K.-based bearings and power transmission products distributor Antifriction Components acquired Scots Bearings Ltd.
Terms of the transaction were not shared, though Antifriction stated that it was a seven-figure deal.
Established in 1986, Scotland-based Scot Bearings has a team of 60 employees across its locations in Glasgow, Dundee, Inverness, Irvine and its headquarters in Aberdeen. The company offers an array of industrial products that include bearings, lubricants, electric motors, belts and drives and offers gearbox repair services. According to a local U.K. news outlet, Scot Bearings has annual revenue of about $21 million USD.
“Scotland’s a vibrant and important market for us and this deal will make us the most significant specialist distributor of critical moving parts North of the border,” Antifriction Managing director Andrew Fleming said in a mid-December news release. “It will also give the Scots Bearings team access to Antifriction’s in-depth training programs and enable their customers to benefit from our established relationships with renowned manufacturers.”
Founded in 1976, Antifriction Components operates 19 sites throughout the U.K., with locations in London, Dudley, Fareham, Wickford, Bolton, Wisbech, Ellesmere Port, Grimsby, Stockton-on-Tees, Cwmbran and Belfast.
Scot Bearings will continue to operate under its current name, alongside Antifriction’s established locations in Edinburgh and Inverness.
